On 5th June 2022, Eskom Uganda Limited joined the rest of the world to commemorate the World Environment Day. The day was set apart by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 and has been celebrated by each member state since then. It is also a day for each Member State to reaffirm her commitment to sustainable environmental management. This year the International Celebrations were held in Sweden under the theme “Only one earth”.
Eskom Uganda Limited staff led by the Managing Director Thozama Gangi and the Finance Director Stephen Byaruhanga joined in the National celebrations that were held Luweero district and were organised by the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA). The theme for the day was “our earth, conserve for life|”.Many activities were conducted to mark the day among which included tree planting, exhibitions about friendly environmental practices.
